NIPSCO's R.M. Schahfer Generating Station Hits
New All-Time Monthly Generation Record

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. During the month of October, Northern Indiana Public Service Company's (NIPSCO) R. M. Schahfer Generating Station (RMSGS) in Wheatfield, Ind., set a new all-time monthly electric generation record of 966,198 net megawatt hours (MWH). This record surpassed the previous one of 949,296 MWHs set in May 2003.

The record generation came at an important time for NIPSCO's electric generations system due to planned maintenance outages at the company's Bailly and Michigan City Generating Stations.

"Our station employees rose to the challenge, supporting our system with a monthly generation output never reached before in the history of RMSGS," said Jerry Godwin, NIPSCO vice president and chief operating officer.

NIPSCO, with headquarters in Merrillville, Ind., is one of the 10 energy distribution companies of NiSource Inc. (NYSE: NI).
