MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) will begin to issue credits to the electric portion of customers' utility bills starting with November billing cycles.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission today denied a motion filed by attorneys representing 14 individual customers asking that the commission reconsider its order approving the electric rate investigation settlement agreement issued on Sep. 23, 2002.
Therefore, electric customers will see credits of approximately six percent on the electric portions of their utility bills including usage in July, August, September and October on their November bills. Starting with December, customers will begin to receive monthly credits.
Today's ruling allows NIPSCO to continue its implementation of immediate and long-term benefits to customers, which in addition to the credits, will include a special rate to promote economic development across NIPSCO's service territory.
NIPSCO, with headquarters in Merrillville, Ind., is one of the 10 energy distribution companies of NiSource Inc. (NYSE: NI).
