NIPSCO REPORTS SYSTEM STATUS NORMAL

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), a subsidiary of NiSource Inc., reports that its energy delivery systems, as of 2 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (1 a.m. Central Standard Time), are functioning normally.
In addition, there are no natural gas outages to report at this time. However, NIPSCO has experienced minor electrical outages in Gary, Hammond, Hobart and LaPorte due to traffic accidents and other non-Y2K related events. NIPSCO has dispatched crews to the scene of each outage to restore electrical service to the affected customers as quickly as possible. The region's weather status remains favorable, with little wind or chance for measurable precipitation for the next 24-36 hours.
